¡]I¡^Cheng-Ching-Hu possess both water supply and tourist attraction function¡G
Cheng-Ching-Hu Reservoir was open to the public as a tourist spot in 1960 and serves as one of the eight major sceneries in Taiwan. It is under our offices¡¦ jurisdiction and serves two operational functions¡G

Water supply function¡GAdvanced water purification plant was in use from October 2003 onwards and provides residents of Kaohsiung high quality water. The processed volume is estimated to be 450,000 tonnes per day and is the highest nano-level water purification plant in all of Taiwan. |

Tourism function¡GThroughout all the 12 districts of Taiwan, only our office has established a tourism division with a responsibility of the operation and maintenance of sceneries. Our district is well-known for its natural, simple and serene styles, and possesses the nickname of ¡§Big Kaohsiung¡¦s Backyard¡¨. Besides the original eight sceneries in our district, we also have Chiang-Kai-Shek Memorial Museum in the midst of our district. Our former president? MR Chiang-Kai-Shek is located at the command center at the hillside, and in 1993 commissioned a private company to preserve the original landscape, and reconstruct the secret tunnels to become ¡§Ocean Treasure Garden¡¨ that exhibits various exotic sea creatures. Yue Lou will also be outsourced and management by private businesses to provide coffee shops and arts exhibits, serving as place for public recreation. To give back to the community Cheng-Ching-Hu will be opened free to public during morning hours and allow DaoSong residents to enter Cheng-Ching-Hu. |
¡]II¡^First national nano-level world class water purification plant¡G
According to investigation data by Environmental Protection Administration, factors that influence the taste of tap water in Kaohsiung region are smell and hardness; for water not boiled, smell is the primary factor. Therefore to increase tap water¡¦s consumable quality in smell and hardness, advanced equipments that can process 740,000 tonnes of water per day is installed in consumer water purification plants in Ching-Cheng-Hu, KaoTan and WonGong Park.
These three water purification plants are some of the most advanced and structured in the world. Other countries experiences are taken into consideration and by integrating with traditional equipments Pre-Ozonation, Post-Ozonation, Crystal Softening, Adsorption and Biodegradation of Biological Activated Carbon Filter, Nano-sized Bubble Floatation, Ultra Filtration, Nano Filtration and such other advanced technologies.
¡]III¡^Sea Water Desalination Plant Construction in Penghu Region¡G
Due to weather conditions Penghu has low rainfall and scarce water source. As tourism industry flourishes in recent years there is a growing need for water. This water desalination plant is build to alleviate the water crisis of local residents.
Currently Penghu County has a daily consumption of 36,400 tonnes of water. Penghu region has 3 sea water desalination plants and 5 well water desalination plants, with a total water output of 17,980 tonnes which is approximately half the amount of water demand. They provide stable water sources for Penghu region, improve local residents¡¦ welfare and improve tourism industry.
¡]IV¡^Liuchiu Township seabed water transportation pipeline¡G
Liuchiu¡¦s first seabed water transportation pipeline is completed in 1981, and it spans 1,400 meters from Pingdong County¡¦s Linbian Township to Liuchiu County, and is the only water supply facility in Liuchiu.
To prevent pipeline leakage which could result in total water shortage in Liuchiu Township, the second seabed water transportation pipeline is completed in 2004, which runs parallel to the first pipeline. It has a diameter of 250 mm, 1,400 in total length and with no joints. Both pipelines are constructed by Japanese companies.
Now the second pipeline supplies water together with the first pipeline, which provide ample water supply for Liuchiu Township¡¦s local domestic and tourism use, and help promote local prosperity.
¡]V¡^National key industrial town, industrial water occupies a large part¡G
A large percentage of our service region¡¦s water usage is industrial in nature. Besides Linyuan, Dashe industrial parks, we have Nanzi, Kaohsiung export processing regions and the biggest user Chinasteel (300,000 to 400,000 tonnes per day).
Currently Kaohsiung region produces 1.6 million tonnes of water per day. Industrial water usage comprises 350,000 tonnes (approximately 22% of water supply) and is supplied by Fengshan Reservoir.
¡]VI¡^Coastline Cities Have Unlimited Potential¡G
Kaohsiung City is the core of Southern Taiwan, the second largest city in Taiwan, owns Kaohsiung Hsiaogang International Airport and world¡¦s top ten Kaohsiung port. Within this city High Speed Rail, MRT, Railway Transport and Expressway intersect, naturally forming an advanced transport network that comprises land, sea and air. The convenience of the transport serves as a stimulus to Kaohsiung¡¦s growth. This coastline city that has tremendous resources of hills, sea, rivers and ports make it unique and special. Its large water consumption not only serves a profitable business to our office but also the high quality nano-level water produced by our advanced water purification plant also serves to improve Kaohsiung¡¦s international image. |
